My name is Larea Diehl. I live on an 80 acre farm near Osseo, Wisconsin. My husband and I brought our first cairn on our honeymoon in 1970 from Ruth Rubenstein who was in her 80's at that time. She had previously had exhibited her cairns and is pictured in some of the old cairn books.
From 1970 through 1985, I bred 3 litters but did not show them. In 1985, I purchased Diehl's Kaysie Sue from Kris Armour as a pet, with no intention of showing.
In 1987, a friend invited me to go to a dog show in Green Bay to watch her show her English Setter. I commented that I had a registered dog. She was uncertain, as she knew nothing about the Cairn standard and didn't know how to tell me that Kaysie might not be a show dog. To make a long story short, I did show her and she won her first point. It took two years but Kaysie finished her championship and produced three champions. Needless to say, I was hooked. Kris was there to help me learn how to groom and gave me tips on showing. I have now been showing and breeding cairns for over 20 years and have finished close to 25 champions. I have met many friends and have had the opportunity to travel the country.
